Alfred Bog Walk
By South Nation Conservation Authority

Enjoy a stroll on the Alfred Bogwalk through some of South Nation's most sensitive and beautiful habitats. Alfred Bog is the largest and highest quality peat bog found in Southern Ontario. It is a Class One Provincially Significant Wetland, the highest possible rating. Many unique and unusual plants and animals live in bogs, but to see them you often have to get down on your hands and knees. Look closely to see the unique vegetation that has evolved to withstand a bog's harsh environment. You might spot a moose or butterflies from the boardwalk. Pulling out trees and picking berries & flowers is prohibited. With binoculars in hand, make your visit to the Alfred Bog off of Concession Road 11, south of the village of Alfred. Watch for Alfred Bog signs.
