Hurkett Cove Conservation Area
By Lakehead Region Conservation Authority

Hurkett Cove Conservation Area, located on Black Bay in the Township of Dorion, is a naturalist's paradise. The area is excellent for botanising, picnicking on the sandy beach or canoeing along the shore. A new pavilion with picnic tables and displays was built in 2001-02.
In 2005, Andy Bezener of "Birds Ontario" selected Hurkett Cove as one of the top birding sites in Ontario. See songbirds along the trail, raptors overhead, and waterfowl and shorebirds in the Cove or along the Black Bay shore. Choose Hurkett Cove if you are looking for an exciting place to view wildlife or visit for a day trip.

Directions: From the City of Thunder Bay, travel east on Highway 11/17 for 88 km, just past Dorion and the Wolf River. Turn right at Black Bay Road. Follow the dirt road for 3 km to the shore and the Conservation Area.
