Mactaquac Provincial Park
By Tourism New Brunswick
Mactaquac Provincial Park is a broad woodland and recreation complex along the scenic St. John River. You'll find a variety of outdoor activities throughout the year in this riverside adventure playground!
Discover the beauty of this 525-ha (1,300-acre) masterpiece along one of the many walking trails (one of which is wheelchair accessible), or take the fun to new heights with a TreeGO Mactaquac Aerial Adventure.
An on-site campground provides more than 300 well-serviced open, wooded sites and features laundry facilities, hot showers and kitchen shelters. A recreation centre provides children's entertainment and a campers' convenience store stocks groceries, propane, firewood and a snack bar.
Freshwater beaches provide an optimal spot to lounge in the sun and watch children splash away in the water or to enjoy an afternoon picnic. For the adventure-inclined, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing can all be enjoyed in the park's waters.
Are you a golf enthusiast? Mactaquac Golf Course is located within the park's boundaries and features a beautiful 18-hole championship course. Mactaquac Lodge offers a popular dining room with licensed lounge, locker rooms, showers and pro shop.
Great Canadian Beaver Pond Voyage
This interpretive, guided walk takes you through a pristine nature reserve with a chain of beaver ponds. Examine dams and lodges built by beavers and see for yourself the architectural abilities of these remarkable animals. Join in hands-on activities that will introduce you to a variety of wetland wonders found in the Acadian forest. Gentle, wheelchair-accessible trails allow for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy this experience. The tour begins at the Park Administration Building, across from the main entrance to the park.
The fun doesn't stop once the snow falls! Take pleasure in several winter activities in the park's vast woodland and riverside grounds or relax in the warm, welcoming lodge.
Grab a toboggan and zip down one of the 2 lighted, groomed sledding hills; go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on groomed ski trails; skate around a .4 hectare (1-acre) skating pond or take a horse-drawn sleigh ride for a magical winter treat. Winter walkers can enjoy a well-maintained walking trail that begins at the park's main gate and continues through Campground 1. Leashed dogs are welcome.
The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the winter, with the sliding hills and skating pond lit nightly until closing. Please call ahead for weather conditions prior to cross-country skiing, ice skating or tobogganing.
