De-Skunking Your Dog

The smell of a skunk is never pleasant, especially when it is your dog that has been sprayed.  The best way to help rid your dog of skunk spray is the following;

1 quart (1L) of 3% hydrogen peroxide (unopened)

1/4 cup of baking soda

1 teaspoon of liquid soap.

Please be sure to wear rubber or latex gloves and be very careful not to get it into your dog's eyes.  Use the mix immediately. Hydrogen peroxide when mixed with baking soda churns out the oxygen and will quickly turn to water.  This procedure may have to be repeated a few times.

You can also try tomato juice, which can work but it is messy and you may have an orange dog when your finished.
